Not a Coyote

|
Notice the subtle differences
between Coyote and dog Tracks a coyote has a more elongated track, and the
claws point inward. Many people who live on the edge of cities think
they have had a stray dog around when really it was a coyote. These
creatures have made a living off of eating the pets of humans, mostly cats.
I've lost 11 kittens this year to coyotes alone, but I don't hate coyotes
like I do prairie dogs, coyotes are harmful to sheep & poultry owners but
they do serve a purpose in the circle of live, they mostly pray on small
animals and rodents, any large game they eat is usually dead by something
else. They clean up the carcass and make the smell go away faster.
Coyotes have become quite comfortable around humans and in many areas
rely on our supply of household felines to keep them in fresh meat.
Many times if you live in the country or have a cabin, you can call one
right up to your porch if you start calling right before daylight. If
you see the tracks to the right in your yard, you can almost certainly call
one up with little or no effort. |
