Pups?
To shoot or not to shoot?
It's September and the Pups are everywhere, on my way to Rapid City I saw 4 dead pups on the highway in a 3 hour trip. I go after these critters, in the previous post you saw a picture of 2 small coyotes, these are pups. I happened across these hunting with their mother along a creek. I get mocked at times for not waiting until the pelts are better, but growing up a rancher I believe coyote hunting is for predator control and that will earn you more money in the long run than what the pelts bring. For those of you who like to call the song dog, try it now, watch for rattlers but try to go out on cool mornings and late evenings. You will be amazed how much success you will have this time of year. If you are a fur man, wait a while, but trust me the coyotes that survive until November will be much smarter and harder to call. Not to mention the Wiley Ones that will survive until February's Dupree Dog Days. Click on the Contest link to the left for more info. Let me know what you think about calling in Late Summer or Early Fall. Let us just see how people view my view.
