Well the 2007 Rifle Season has come to a close!  It went by with a lot of excitement and a few memories.  My 3rd son was born the Friday before the full West River Season got underway, my wife still wouldn't let me name him hunter.  The traditional deer camp got cancled but all of our freinds (except Randy & Dave) from Deer Camp still sent in photos of thier 2007 hunts.  I took a 14 year old kid out on his first deer hunt and after 3 weeks he talked his father into shooting a buck even though it wasn't a wall hanger.  We got some good pictures sent in with kids and that is great.  I took a couple mornings away from kid duty to hunt but I couldn't pull myself away from the coyotes, needless to say you won't see me in any trophy buck pictures this year.  I started this blog to force myself to update the website more, and also to write down my thoughts and beliefs about hunting.  I hope that I don't bore you with my rantings.  Christmas is coming and the doe I shot will make great jerky.  My kids came with me on that hunt and I don't think they will ever forget it.  My oldest who has always been afraid of hunting, learned to appreciate the outdoors this season and that in itself makes the season a success.  As I get older and my family obligations get more demanding, I have come to the conclusion that Hunter is not who I am but something I do.  Therefore I'm fine with not getting a wall hanger and I look just as forward to next years season because not only will it be another gathering of friends but it will also be Krece's 1st birthday.
