Cow Pays Off, Finally - September 28, 2007
Wow I've been hunting this cow for quite a few mornings and nothing. So today I just decide to drive by and sure enough a large coyote (pictured above) was munching on her, the morning I don't put the gear on and sneak in. I headed for her in the Hemi, and turned her to some flat ground. My dog tried to take over from there. There was a problem however, she was as big as my dog, he would challenge her but give up rather quickly and she wouldn't chase him to the pickup. When she would leave, he would chase, when she turned to face he would run. I finally got out the .223 to shoot her and the clip was empty. Running out of time I grabbed Old Faitful, a Browning .243 Lever Action. Called Gus (the dog) off and put one in her side. She is a large coyote, her belly being full probably helped too.
