Prairie Dog ![]() |
If you are like me, you like to shoot these critters until your gun barrel bends with heat. Many groups and organizations would like to see these cute little creatures on the Federal Endangered Species List. What a joke, for anyone who thinks they are endangered, come see me and I will show you old towns that have destroyed hundreds of acres of prairie and range good for Cattle, Buffalo, Deer and other grass eating animals. I can also show you new towns that destroy grasslands in a matter of weeks. I'm sure they fit into the Lords plan somewhere but to me they are as bad as the Rats of New York City. Prairie Dogs are also known to carry very dangerous diseases such as Monkey Pox and many types of Plague. While some people in California are raising them as pets, I use them to site in my Coyote rifle. They are more challenging than a standing target and you can see what kind of damage different bullets will do when they hit the target. Another plus to shooting Prairie Dogs is after leaving about 30 of them dead in the grass, that evening or early the next morning you can always find a Coyote eating on their remains and then you get the big prize. So in review, Prairie Dogs are good for the following: 1) Spreading Disease 2) Ruining Grasslands 3) Target Practice 4) Coyote Bait |
